Go with a color that matches the trim in the room. If there is no trim (shudder), nothing is wrong with a nice white wall plate. Under no circumstances should you put up anything that is brass, or mirrored. The 80's ended 20 years ago.

Forrest Green would do. Or you can paint a cover with the Egyptian Nile and use that.

I have always used metal plates for light switches and plug in's. It is easier to match a metal finish than a paint. That way, you can match it to the hardware on your furniture and curtain rods. It sort of pulls the room together.

They make clear switch plates, but I don't know if that's what you want. What color are your base boards? You could match those. I can't really say without knowing what the rest of the room looks like. Good luck.

Get a brushed nickel light switch. It will look fantastic with that color.

i paint right over my switch covers with the wall paint. you dont really want them to stand out. after all they're not a decorative feature.

What color is your molding and ceiling?
Do you want contrast or something that will complement?
Earth colors will work with your Egyptian black

I like brass with that, but you could also get a switch cover that matches your baseboards.
