The "missing link" is an old misnomer about missing "expected" evolutionary stages. Much of this is due to the less likely evolutionary theories about gradual evolution. The more recent concepts of punctuated equilibrium evolution makes much more sense from a mutation, survival of the fittest, and animal sociological point of view. Not to mention explaining why gradual changes didn't always occur like it was assumed in the early days of the theory.
In regards to a previous poster - they are ignorant with regards to science and the scientific definition of theory. There is a theory of gravity. That differs from the law of gravity. Theories have to do with how, and are strongly supported by the time they are a confirmed theory.

There is no such thing as an "evolutionist". I am an atheist. The 'missing link' was a metaphorical reference to the fact that archeologists and palentologists had dug up fossils that were scattered both in time and space. There was (or is) no actual or real 'missing link'. As time has passed more and more fossils have been recovered and the picture of the evolutionary development of many animals becomes more and more complete. Now what is it that you've found in Genesis?

Missing Link;
The supposed 'problem between Cro-Magnon man and Neanderthal man spanning a roughly 30,000 year gap that could not be explained. Now a mere coincidence as remains of villages of both Cro-Magnon and Neanderthal have been discovered living within a few hundred miles of each other and co-existing.
Genesis;
1st chapter of a book written by itinerant sheep herders on the 'Meaning of Life'....... They did not know what the wheel was, had no understanding of even the base mechanics of a simple water pump, and were viewed as fanatics by most of the region.

The concept of the 'missing link' is a misunderstanding of punctuated equilibrium generally made by people who don't really get evolution. We have thousands of 'missing links' because finding fossils of any kind, especially transititional fossils, that are more than a couple of thousand years old, is an extremely rare event. Please try reading up more on evolution before you try to discount it with the absurd mythologies presented in Genesis.

There are no missing links. It needs only half a dozen complete fossil records to PROVE the fact of evolution in ALL species and there are several hundred complete fossil records. Biological mechanisms like evolution don't only act on some species-even creationists aren't daft enough to believe that so for missing link read red herring.

Actually, "missing link" shows whoever used the phrase is not familiar with evolution (or is talking to people who aren't).
Life evolves gradually. All generations are links between their ancestors and offspring; almost all life ends up "missing", since fossilization is such a rare occurrence.

"Missing link" is a creationist term designed to fool people who don't know anything about evolution.
There's no such thing as an "evolutionist", either.

I define "the missing link" as non-existent.
It was found almost 50 years ago.
Typically though, christians have never been up-to-date on their science.

The missing link is a fallacy. All to often we find fossils which show evolutionary change, and every time creationists say it isn't a transitional form, even though they clearly show evolution as a gradual process.

I like how all of a sudden anyone who believes in evolution is an atheist.
unless the intersting thing you noticed about Genesis is that it's full of donkey crap, I'm not curious.
