I have a Panasonic TH-50PHD6 Plasma which I bought 3 years ago. It has a terrific picture and quality is still superior than most models I see now. However, this model is a 1080i as appose to the 1080P which are out now. What differance if any will I see or what is the differance in picture quaility? At the present time, I am using DVI imput from a Samsung DVD player. Will the new HD DVD players still give me great picture quaility with the 1080i ?

Really, only people dedicated to watching the screen in minute detail is going to notice the difference. 1080p is supposed to be faster, so if you're watching, say an Indy car race, you *might* see a difference.

I doubt it though. I *personally* have yet to see anyone prove a difference between the two that justifies the increased price.

1080p ability the set has a very community experiment price of 1080 horizontal lines. i stands for "interlaced." basically positioned, an interlaced experiment price is a fashion of faking a larger determination (horizontal experiment price) 1080i means that the set produces a community determination of below that, say 540 lines, and produces a 1080 experiment price by way of including options in between each of the 540 lines, in accordance to some prediction technique, searching on the options contained in te line above, and the line below the interlacing line.

There is a visual difference in 1080i and 1080p, but only people with big TV sets, like 52'' and bigger are going to notice the difference.

I don't think anything will be broadcast in 1080 P rogressive scan
Only in interlacing with 1080 lines.
I do notice a big difference in the enhance for digital TV DVD (480p)with the DVD player doubles the lines to simulate the 1080i

My 1080i LCD is perfect for me. 1080p is really expensive and is a waste of money IMO.

i is interleaved and p is progressive.
i needs to scan every picture twice to get the whole frame, whereas p does it in one sweep and is considered the better looking picture. Most people may not notice the difference.
