I have a foundue fountain that I got for christams. I want to use it for my sons birthday party. I am going to do a chocolate in the one, and in the other fountain I want to do a cheese sauce. I want like a chedder cheese in it. I have look on the computer and could not fine one that is good for the fountain. It can not have any chucks in it. I need like a creamy sauce that is good. If you now one please let me now. Thanks

also what about if I would do a bar-B-Q. Would that work better.

Great idea! We used a chocolate fountain at my son's Communion party a couple weeks ago and it was a HUGE hit!

Now, the cheese IS proving to be harder to find. You may want to experiment a little here and there before the actual party.

Maybe try a Four Cheese Pasta Sauce, I think Classico and Five Brothers make several varieties, and that would eliminate the thick and chunky problem.

I know when we did chocolate, we did have to add a considerable amount of cooking oil to the chocolate chips to get a creamy consistency, perhaps experimenting with creamier cheeses (American singles, Velveeta, etc) and oil before the party would help.

Dear Gabriela,

Mixing Velveeta and cream is an easy and reliable way to get a nice, smooth cheese fondue. I’ve also used adobo sauce for some kick, but the basic, mild cheese sauce can be used anytime.

Ay yi yi! Chipotle Cheese Sauce

3 lbs Velveeta cheese, cut into small cubes
6 cups heavy cream
Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes
Pinch of salt
Adobo sauce (red sauce from canned chipotle peppers)
1-2 cups whole milk



Mix the pepper flakes and salt with the cream and scald. Add cubed cheese and melt over low heat, stirring constantly. Add adobo sauce as desired. Thin to the correct consistency with milk. This recipe makes enough to run through the largest home fountains.

I'm not a big fan of these fountains, since you really can't dunk anything in the liquid, but if you really want to do this, realize that it is not the type of cheese that makes a difference, but the temperature - you need it hot enough to be melted, but not so hot that it curdles. I then think that what you need is to make a thin cheese sauce, using wine (and traditionally, some kirsch) for the liquid rather than milk, to make it like a fondue.

I wouldn't recommend putting cheese fondue into a fountain... you would be better off just leaving it in a fondue pot. Here's a recipe that I use when making cheese fondue:

1 can of beer
1 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 c. mascarpone cheese
2 c. shredded cheddar cheese

You want to bring the beer to a slight boil then add the garlic powder and mascarpone cheese. Add the cheddar cheese a little bit at a time, stirring until completely melted and combined.

Seriously---I don't recommend any cheese fondue in your fountain. Cheese fondues will thicken and you have to thin them out as you are serving them. You could try...the whole thing is to make the fondue before hand...and then add it to the fountain...but, cheese is a little different in consistency than chocolate. If you want...have a fondue pot to serve the cheese:-)

try any of those but i think with cheese it might be best to stick with a fondue pot. but you would have to keep the cheese hot for it to stay liquidy try more milk or what ever the liquid is that you are going to use do a test run before the party to make sure it works so that you dont have to have a disaster right before. :)

Have you ever noticed how those fondue resteraunts smell like vomit? Too much cheese is nausiating.

Just like have you ever noticed how parmesan cheese smells like baby puke?

Just a thought.

But don't let that spoil your nice little fondue party, I'm sure you'll do great. I love fondue. Just not the restaurant I went to once. It smelt very bad.
