I've just started a diet and my dietitian advices me to drink at least 8-10 glass of water/day. Does water really help and how?

Hello,

water is needed for:
1) breaking down and dispose of fat
2) metabolize proteins

When I say it is needed I mean it is a reagent in the respective reactions. So these reactions do not happen (or happen slowly) when water is missing.

Another thing that helps breaking down fat is calcium.

It helps to fill you up so you eat less, try drinking a glass of water before eating. It has no calories so it won't add any to your diet, and it helps wash out waste in your body. As well as keeping you hydrated. Water is important, but it doesn't have to be plain, try the flavored bottle waters, they are just as good for you (minus the fluoride of coarse).

I guess it should help if you are also lowering your sodium and salt intake. If not your body will just retain the water. personally I think water just makes you fat... altho it is good for you... and you should drink alot about half an hour before you excersize....

I drank vault (the pop) and lot like 5 pounds in 2 weeks without even trying so I mean hey, different things work for different people. Vault is very low in sodium for a pop and i really hate water and really never drink it.
