I checked the "read only " check box in the security tab and it's not checked but it saved to the CD as "read only". All the word files I save, automatically save in "read only" . How can you change that. I want to be able to change them on the CD when I want.

All CD files are saved as read-only, they don't work as a regular hard drive. You can't change the file attributes on a cd.

CD-Rs are more likely a backup not a place to store your files and work with them from there. I believe there are 3rd-party programs that will allow you to do what you want but even in that case you will need to use rewritable media.

What I'd suggest is for you to buy a USB memory drive, this way you can save, open and save again your files.

You cant change them on the CD whenever you want.
A CD is a read-only disk.
You will have to copy them to your hard-drive/desktop, make the change, then re-save them, and burn a new CD.
