It can and does. In some sates it is illegal to withhold medical help from a child in favor of prayer. Some states' laws (mine unfortunately) say prayer is medical help. It results in dead children that could have been saved with simple, effective medicine. If an adult wishes to depend on prayer for his own ailments that is fine. But adults should not be able to inflict those beliefs on an innocent child.

Praying for a cure does'nt kill, the disease does. I don't believe in praying for things of a physical nature, but if people want to, I don't have a problem with it because the more positive energy flowing around the better. I don't think Jesus kills, he's just a teacher.

I read an study on prayer done by an atheist, and they proved prayer does work. The group did better with people praying for them. The people doing the praying were not especially spiritual.
Also, I am a healer, and am able to stop pain with focused thought, energy, and calling on help of the Spiritual Masters; not just Jesus. I would never tell someone to not go to the doctor, but I can make the treatment easier,ie. get rid of pain after surgery, and help the incision heal faster.

Praying is talking to God. It is not a substitute to taking care of your health. If a person smoked for the past twenty years and after learning that the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, stops but still contracts lung cancer, should he blame God if he prays to Him but is not cured?
Jesus broke down the ten commandments into two parts: 1 Love God above all things, 2 Love your neighbor as you love yourself. How can the God of love kill? He even forgave the people that put him to death, the very same people that deserved to be destroyed if he wanted to. To simplify, God=Love=Life.

Praying that the medicine works doesn't kill. Praying for cure without medicine is a lack of common sense... Unless God says different.
Jesus didn't come to kill people, he came so we could kill him with our sins.

The power of prayer is a mystical thing. We are not all gifted in prayer, I'm afraid to admitt. Some people raised Christian lead a nonChristian life style then turn Christian when sick or in a tight spot. I don't think Jesus is here to save us physically per say, but spiritually. I'd rather pray to Jesus for a quick recovery or a serene acceptance because I don't think I'm worthy of such a miracle.

There have been cases in some of the off branches of certain religions that do not believe in medicine that people, and especially children, have died because they have not gotten a cure from a doctor and people have instead prayed for a miracle cure.

Medicinal stuff are there to be used to cure a sick person... simply praying for someone does not work (doesn't change the condition of a person) I don't understand your "jesus kill" part!

Nearly all medicinal "cures" have negative side effects, often fatal. The statistics for people who die as a result of hospital stays (dying of causes other than that which brought them there) and people who die of medicinal side effects, annually, in the U.S. alone, are in the thousands. I have never seen published statistics for the annual cost in lives for "praying." Maybe you can tell us specifically.

Well, technically...no.
Whatever the disease or injury is that you should seek medical help for -- THAT is what will kill you.
Praying isn't going to cure it, and not seeing a doctor is just plain dumb...but it's not the praying that kills you (even though it doesn't help), it's the disease :)
