Locker in Italian is armadietto,ripostiglio (but not gavone). Gavone in Italian has only one meaning.
On the boats it's the site were sailors store the boat's utensils and tools.
'Gavone di prua' is forepeak
'Gavone di poppa' is afterpeak
In my dialect (Tuscany) is exhisting a similar word 'Gagone'
that refers to the French term 'Gagà' and the meaning looks to be similar to the one you've suggested. We call Gagone somebody who is dressed in an extremely researched way, like a kind of dandy.It could be also 'Pavone' (peacock) with almost the same meaning.
Otherwise I don't know other closest words.

These were WAY off!! Amongst Italian-Americans, a "gavone" is a person who eats more than they should in one sitting...a glutton.
