No definitely not while it is healing and if you want it to look its best not ever. Tanning wil eventually fade the tattoo.

I absolutely don't think you should tan after getting a tattoo. I have a tattoo and I waited for a few weeks just until the tattoo completely healed. I was also told when I got one that by tanning it will fade quicker then apposed to not tanning. I am taking the risk and still continuing to tan oh well if I need to touch up.

Not right away. Let your tattoo completely heal itself before you go there. Once it has healed you are fine to go but tanning in tanning beds does fade tattoos. My friend has a tattoo and she had to re-touch it. She asked the artist why it faded so fast seeing as she only got it 1 year ago. He noticed she was tanned and asked if she did the tanning beds, she said yes and he said that is why. The lights fade tattoos.

No. Always put an SPF of at least 50 on your tattoo if you are going to tan. The tanning process goes into your skin layers just as the tattoo process does. Put the two of these together, and it will weaken the colors of the tattoo. Depending on the brand of ink the tattoist used, the color can fade very rapidly.

They tell you not to, but I did. All I did was cover it while I was tanning with a cut out the size of my tat. My tattoo is on the front of my body so I layed on my back while tanning w/ my fresh tattoo. If it's on your back, cover it and lay on your front. Mine looks fine. Just make sure your cut out is not so much bigger than the tat or you're gonna have a big white spot.

Only after the tattoo is healed and after applying sunscreen (at least 30 SPF) to the tattoo. Sunlight will eventually break down the tatoo ink and turn the tattoo muddy, so protecting it from the sun is crucial to preserve it. If you can't keep it covered or out of direct sunlight, then using sunscreen (a lot of it and reapplied frequently) is the best option you have.

Definitely not while it is healing. And if you want your tattoo to look its very best until the day you die, you should never tan (creams and lotion tanners are generally okay, but the sun and booths are not).,

Always use an spf moisturizer or lotion on your tattoos to keep the color and look of them

NO!!!!! i really don't know if it would hurt too much. getting sunburned would be bad! but look at it this way. it will take about 2 weeks to heal at most---why risk it?? i'm sure you can wait that long to tan! a good tat costs too much money and if you mess it up, it's hard to fix so that it looks perfect again. stay inside a while! read a book, watch tv, play cards. it won't kill you

you shouldn't tan ever as it is very bad for your skin but you should have your tattoo exposed to sun as little as possible to keep it looking fresh and vibrant. and for the people who say to put sun screen on the tattoo, they are misinformed. UV rays will break down the ink in your tattoo regardless of how much or what kind of sun screen you use. sun screen is to protect your skin. skin and ink are not the same thing. when you see people whos tattoos look faded and greenish gray, it's because they have been exposing their tattoo to the sun for years.
