It is certainly true that there are terrible injustices in Iran against women, especially those from poorer parts of society, whose families are not in a position to protect them, and those who are victims of honour-type killings; in spite of being an Islamic state, Iran remains corrupt.

The problem is probably not worse in Iran than in other countries of the region, including Western allies like Saudi and Pakistan. Unfortunately, cases like Nazanin's can be used to whip up hostility to Iran and/or Islam by people who in reality care nothing for women in her situation.

Those who want to improve the position of women in Iran should support engagement with Iran rather than confrontation; in this way they aid the position of people like Khatami or other reformers, rather than Ahmadinejad.

What would you want someone to do? It is a facist state that cares nothing about it's people. The people must rise up from within. If you live there and are angry, you can be angry and scared or angry scared and mad enough to start the bad thinking to turn around. Why don't you contact the womens rights groups to help you. National association of Women. They scream about equal rights unless its in another country.
