As she didn't have a lapse in coverage, and her insurance would have covered it, if you CAN add her to the policy, it would probably cover her. The problem is, most companies have "open enrollment" in December, and this is January - so unless there is a big life change (like she gets fired or quits) you won't be able to add her at this time.

If your wife has had insurance for more than 6 months, then there will be no pre-existing conditions on your insurance.
The only real question is- when was your open enrollment period? Generally, if you've missed it, you won't be able to add your wife on- you'll have to wait till next year.
For the baby, however, you WILL be able to add on- as a "change of life" event- so in the event of a troublesome delivery if your baby (heaven forbid) ends up in the NICU- if you and your wife both cover the baby, you should end up with relatively little of the overall costs hitting your pocket.
If for some reason your employer (you should check with HR) has open enrollment now, or allows you to add your wife now, then again you'd have most of the costs covered for delivery. You might also want to check and see if it's too late for either of you to set up a Health Savings Account (HSA)- it pulls money out from your paycheck pre-tax and puts it in an account you can use like a checking account to "pre-pay" for healthcare costs through out the year.

If you are pretaxing your policy premiums through work, or if your work is paying 100% of the premiums, they will not allow you to add her before open enrollment. Only able to add/delete dependents if: newly wed, newly born/adopted, newly divorced, or a death.
IF you are able to add her, the insurance company will NOT cover the pregnancy since she's already pregnant, it MAY cover complications during the birth (csection not considered complication) but it WILL definitely cover your baby once he/she is born.
It's good to have both of you included in each others policies for extra protection, after the baby is born, make sure you add her to your policy during open enrollment, and you to hers. It won't hurt and you'll avoid this type of predicament, not just for pregnancies, but what about catastrophic accidents where someone will end up in the hospital? Always better to be safe than sorry...."Budget for the known, Insure for the unknown" right?

Depending on the policy, they might cover it. HOWEVER, if your birthday comes first in the year (like if you're born in January and your wife is June - it doesn't matter who is older.) you're going to run into problems with something called Coordination of Benefits. Meaning, each insurance is going to point the finger at the other and say "That's the primary plan" - and it's going to be a HUGE headache!!
If your wife's birthday is first in the year, and your policy doesn't have a pre-existing clause for pregnancy, then add her! You might have to be the one who submits anything the primary plan denies, and chase it yourself, but it might be worth it if her policy has a deductible or something like that.

Call your provider. Some companies won't allow you to add spouses to the plan if they have insurance offered at work, some may not let you enroll her now either. Check to see what her coverage is as well. I had excellent insurance and ended up only paying $324.00 out of pocket and had a c-section.

Contact your insurance provider. They will let you know what it covered and what isn't.
