You should contact Lord Xenu and get your info from the source. Just kidding.
Scientology was invented by the pulp science fiction author, L. Ron Hubbard. Among fans of the pulps, there is a legend about the origin of Scientology, namely that several popular writers were sitting around one night having drinks and jokingly entered into a pact to see which one could make the most money by writing science fiction. Hubbard came up with Scientology, earlier being presented in a book called Dianetics. I don't know if the legend is really true, but the earliest writings about Scientology were published in Astounding Science Fiction magazine. If the legend is true, Hubbard undoubtedly won the bet.
I am not a scientologist (I couldn't afford to be one even if I did believe in it!), but have read a little about it out of curiosity. I know that its "belief system" and mythology incorporates alot of science fiction elements, including a galactic overlord named Xenu, several races of extraterrestrial entities that have some measure of control over human life and physical and psychological well-being, and a belief that traumatic events (including loud noises even) imprint themselves on the subconscious mind in the form of pernicious entities called "engrams". It is a very complex set of beliefs. The religion also has a strict hierarchy. At the lowest levels, knowledge is restricted. A believer must go through rites of passage (and payments) to progress to higher levels and have access to sacred, secret knowledge, including bizarre science-fictionesque history and methods of healing and psychological wellness. I hope this helps. It might be good just to do an extensive web search or go to your library and pick up some of Hubbard's books that relate to scientology. It really is interesting as a cultural phenomenon, though I don't think I could ever take it seriously personally.

Ok this is soooo funny
L Ron Hubbard was a science fiction writer who in the 1950's wrote a book about scientology and then later developed into a religion and a movie! L Ron Hubbard believed and teached that human beings are full of little things called thetans which are actually the tortured souls of millions of kidnapped aliens who were brought to earth by the evil ruler of the galactic confederacy XENU 75 million years ago.
Lets set the scene, 75 million years ago XENU was the ruler of a galactic confederacy which had 26 stars and 76 planets including Teegeeack (which we now call earth.) We we over populated and XENU was about to be overthrown as ruler so with the help of psychiatrists he summoned billions of people and paralyzed them with alcohol and glycol . They were then loaded onto space planes for extermination which just happened to take place right here in Teegeeack. XENU then stacked them around the bases of volcanoes and then blew up hydrogen bombs in the volcanoes. The thetans were blown into the air and were sucked into vacuum zones and taken to a cinema and forced to watch a 3D movie for 36 days they were then released all dazed and confused and got stuck in our bodies. They are responsible for all our confusion.
I know sounds like a made up story by a science fiction writer
Thats exactly what it is!

Scientology is a body of teachings and related techniques developed by American science fiction author L. Ron Hubbard. It began in 1952 as a self-help philosophy, an outgrowth of his earlier self-help system, Dianetics, and later described itself as a new religion. It claims to offer "an exact methodology" to help humans achieve awareness of their spiritual existence across many lifetimes and, simultaneously, to become more effective in the physical world. The name "Scientology" is also used to refer to the often controversial Church of Scientology, the largest organization promoting the practice of Scientology, which is itself part of a network of affiliated corporations that claim ownership and sole authority to disseminate Dianetics and Scientology.
A stated goal of Scientology is to "rehabilitate" the thetan (roughly equivalent to the soul) to regain its native state of "total freedom." Church spokesmen and practitioners claim that Hubbard's teachings (called "Technology" or "Tech" in Scientology terminology) have saved them from a plethora of problems and enabled them to better realize their highest potential in business and their personal lives.[1][2] However, outside observers—including journalists, lawmakers, and national governing bodies of several countries—have alleged that the Church is an unscrupulous commercial enterprise that harasses its critics and brutally exploits its members.[3][4]
Although believers are usually free to practice the religion, the organized church has often encountered opposition. While a number of governments now view the Church as a religious organization entitled to the protections and tax relief that such status brings, others view it as a pseudoreligion, a cult, or a transnational corporation.[5][6][7][8]

Scientology is arguably one of the most successful pyramid scams in history. It was devised by a science fiction author who was often heard saying that the best way to make money was to start a religion. Unlike most religions, tithing in Scientology is not optional. It is required to gain 'ranks' in the group. And the amount of money involved is obscene. As with most scams, as they've grown, the group has become more transparent, with some of their more radical, unpopular ideas that were protected for a long time now accessible to outsiders. For this reason, the Church of Scientology is notorious for being litigious. They aggressively pursue anyone who discloses their secrets under obscure copyright laws.

Here's a factual description for you:
Scientology is an applied religious philosophy. When I say "applied" I mean you actually use it in your life to change or improve existing conditions. It is a very practical religion.
All religions if you learn about them have a basic philosphy, but they also have certain dogma, rituals and observances, and a certain faith or belief is required. There is nothing wrong with this, but Scientology is not that kind of religion. It does not intrude on anyones faiths of beliefs particularly in the area of God , the Supreme Being, or the Infinite. This area is left totally up to the indivdual, which is why you can be a practicing Jew,for example and still use and apply the priniciples of Scientology in your life. It does not conflict. If anything it will enhance your understanding of your chosen religious practice.
You can have no specific religious beliefs and still benefit from using it.
And it is only true for you according to your own observation and experience with it.
It is a non denominational religion . The dictionary definition that applies:
Religion: The spiritual or emotional attitude of one who recognises the existence of superhuman power or powers.
The most basic principle of Scientology is that YOU are your own immortal soul, that this is not a "thing" you HAVE but what YOU actually are.
The whole purpose of Scientology is to increase an individual's understanding and awareness of himself. and lifeAnd thereby his native abilities .
When you do this the sphere and zone of his positive influence increases and moves outward into his life, his family ,his friends, his groups and mankind which he is part of.
How this result is achieved is the "technology" of Scientology, which was developed by L.Ron Hubbard after his extensive research and the discoveries he made, about the human spirit. The basic religious philosophy and knowledge of Scientology is very old, going back 10,000 years at least to the Veda or Vedic Hymns from the East. L. Ron Hubbard researched and made new discoveries about the human spirit. He developed technology from these discoveries to apply to increase spiritual awareness and ability.
He completed his research before his death in 1986 and left all of his results and copyrights
to the Church of Scientology along with most of his considerable personal estate, when he died.
He published a book in 1951 to communicate the basic principles he discovered called: " Scientology The Fundementals of Thought"
There are currently over 10 million Scientologists in more than 163 countries world wide. However we are a new religion, only 53 years old.
The true story of Scientology as a religion goes like this:
1. A philosopher developes a philosophy about life and death.
2. People find it interesting.
3. People find it works.
4. People pass it along to others.
5. It grows.
This is just an overview.
L. Ron Hubbard explained fully the theology and technologies of Scientology in more than 500,000 pages of writings, including dozens of books and over 2,000 tape-recorded public lectures. So it's not possible to fully answer your question on this forum, but I hope this helps.

Something dreamt up by the Science Fiction writer L Ron Hubbard. Yup a writer.
Mostly it believes that as a foetus you actually hear and understand things that are said about you while in the womb which are the cause of lifelong problems (I'm not making this up) which will only be resolved if you are 'audited' by trained Scientologists. For a fee of course.
It just gets worse after that.
