This isn't really advice but it's sort of what I live by...
If you are having a bad day or feeling sorry for yourself for whatever reason, just remember if whatever is making you sad/angry is the worst thing that happens to you that day, then you've had a pretty good day!
Of course this can't always be applied, but usually.

Enjoy the journey. Meaning, some people think I will grown up and then I will be happy. they forget to enjoy childhood.
When I get out of college I will be happy, they forget to enjoy college.
When I retire I will be happy, they forget to enjoy their craft.
Try to find one little thing to be happy about each day of your life, a sunset, the smile of a child, your husband coming home from work, the cool crisp feel of the sheets on laundry day.
Enjoy the journey, not the destination.

Show me who you hang out with and I'll tell you who you are. My cousin is hanging out with some bad kids and she claimed, since they've gone to school together for like 15 years now, that she was a bad person. Now, she's her best friend. Now, they're also doing drugs, drinking everyday and driving after being drunk. My mom always said that and I didn't believe it because, ironically I hung out with "good" people. Now I see how true it is.

To have low expectations and high hopes. This helped me immensely. When I heard that and really thought about it, I realized that whenever I had expectations, I was usually the one who got hurt when they didn't turn out the way I wanted. It took me awhile to figure out the difference, but I have it down pat now.

The Creator has not given you a longing to do that which you have no ability to do.

"I shall pass this way but once, any good, therefore, that i can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again."
