Names of British Brewers? There are about 600 in Britain. Most are very small, but a few multinational giants dominate the market (unfortunately, because they generally don't give a sh*t about what they brew):
Big boys are: Carslberg (used to be Carlsberg-Tetley)
Coors (churn out pi*s like Carling)
In-Bev (they are held responsible for Stella)
Scottish & Newcastle (the only British owned one)
In the second division are Greene King and Wolverhampton & Dudley (who have just re-branded themselves Marstons)
In the third division are family owned firms such as Adnams, Fullers, Wells & Youngs, Harveys etc.
After them come hundreds of small or tiny breweries. Prominent amongst them are Hop-Back, Butcombe, Archers, Moorhouses etc etc etc. These have all sprung up from the 1970's onwards in response to the demand for real ale.
There are quite a few pubs who brew their own beer too.
