My daughter's nose have been bleeding for the past 4 days and I don't know why. Can anybody tell me why or how I can stop it from bleeding?

My youngest had problems with nose bleeds from a very early age. They would occur about every 3 months. When a bleeding episode starts, it would continue (off and on) for a week. Her blood vessels were very close to the surface. When she was 11, the doctor suggested cauterizing. That ended the nose bleeds.

This can be anything from picking to dry air inside the house at night now that cold weather has set in.

Try putting some antibiotic ointment on a cotton swab (like Neosporin on a Q-Tip) and gently coating the inside of her nose with it tonight before bed. If you have central heat, consider running a humidifier in her room or even just hanging a wet bath towel on a hanger in her room while she sleeps. As the towel dries, the water evaporates into the air, making it a bit moister.

If the bleeding continues after a few days time, becomes profuse or contains clots, if she has trouble breathing or any other symptoms, seek medical attention for her to rule out anything more serious than dry air or a bad childhood habit :)

Nose bleeds can be caused by relatively mundane things like dryness of the mucous membranes inside the nose to some very serious things. If the nosebleeds are very frequent you should take him to the doctor. If the nose is bleeding you can put an ice pack against the nose, or you can pinch the bridge of the nose between your fingers to try and stop the bleeding. Do not tip the head back as this will only succeed in getting the blood to run down the back of the throat.

If my child's nose was bleeding for even more than one day he'd be at the doctors. I don't understand how you can go without having that checked out. I would take her to the doctors. This doesn't sound right to me, I would think that it could be dangerous or point to a medical problem. Is it bleeding non stop or just occasionally? If it's occasionally then it may be she's putting her fingers up there. I wouldn't go to yahoo answers for this, I'd go to my child's doctor.

If a child gets one nosebleed, it's not uncommon to have several in the days following. When the nosebleed stops, there's a small thin scab in there, and if they sneeze too hard or blow their nose too hard or pick their nose, it'll reopen. Really dry air in the house doesn't help either.

Try putting a little vaseline on a q-tip and running it inside her nostril to coat it and moisten it a little. Run a cool mist vaporizer in the house too to add a little humidity too.

If it persists or she bleeds for a long time - she needs to see the doctor ASAP to make sure her blood is clotting properly. (If she's got bruises on her body, I'd take her to the doc sooner than later - it really could be a blood clotting issue.)

Good luck!!
