It is a lifestyle for me, and has been for over a decade, for health, comfort, and spiritual reasons. Read on if curious.
I know many folks find it strange, rude, or even unsanitary to go to an eatery barefoot. As for the latter, it is simply untrue. . .At least for a true barefooter like myself. After all, my feet do not touch the food, nor can I spread any more germs than shoe-wearers - I wash my feet thrice a day (how many x are shoes washed?). As for fungus, I can't spread that either, as I could never contract it, because I do not stuff my feet into damp, moist, warm environs like shoes, where fungi thrive. As for looks, what's the difference between two straps covering the tops of one's feet and one's feet being bare? Being barefoot all the time, everywhere, is a passion of mine, and an eccentricity, that's all. So, would you mind?

Thank you so much, you ladies that understand. I WOULD accomodate your wishes if it were a "high end" restauarant. BTW, I re-emphasize. THERE ARE MANY RESTAURANTS THAT ALLOW THIS! http://www.barefooters.org
I've been to DOZENS of them....Chili's, fast food joints, pubs, grills, etc. It;'s just who I am. I really don't want to upset anyone......

Debbie B., I always carry sanitary wipes with me. My feet are as clean as can be when I enter an establishment or a friend's house. I REALLY am a very polite, caring individual. Why should this little quirk bother people so much?

With the exception of you being obsessed with your feet, no. I couldn't care less if shoes are worn or not. I believe that what the person is like on the inside is more important than whats on the outside. But it does seam to me that you have a bit of a fetish thing going on here.

I would not go on a date with a barefoot man to be honest with you, I can't think of too many girls that would. Think about it. Everywhere you go, bathrooms, ect. Then you walk in someones house and bring all of those germs in with you, because you can't take of your shoes by the door. Plus your feet must be really dry and cracked and look dirty, which just comes down to cleanliness. Sorry , but you want the truth right? This is probally how most us female out there view what your proposing. Maybe you can find that one or two to look past it, but then your limiting yourself just because you want someone to accept your bare-feet. Good Luck

Well you have brought up some powerful arguments but unfortunately the majority of restaurants in the world don't see your side of things I personally could care less what's on your feet as long as you are paying j/k really good luck to you What is your opinion on wife beaters in restaurants? I think all that under arm hair and sweat is far more unsanitary than bare feet

It sort of depends on what restaurant you wanted to go to. If it was on the beach or the wait staff were prepared for your barefootedness (as most restaurants won't even let you in the door), then I probably wouldn't care. If, say you were in a tux, shoeless and wanted to take me dancing at the best restaurant in town, I would have a problem with that, not on a hygiene level, but a cultural level.

I thought it was a requirement that people wear shirts and shoes in most restaurants, but I guess I assumed wrong!
But it depends on the restuarant. If it's tux and dress attire and very fancy, that'd just be akward. But anywhere else, as long as I liked the guy I wouldn't mind. It would take a couple dates to get used to.

I would not like it because I don't like that kind of attention. Many restaurants would not allow you in, likewise stores, malls... Personally I like going where I want to go without everyone staring, pointing or making comments. One thing missing in your diatribe about being clean... if you get shoes dirty outside, you can take them off at the door... not so with dirty feet.

Well i wouldn't mind because it's your feet, so do what you want. But i do know that some people might kick you out if barefooted in a store or something.

Yes, because even if the girl doesn't mind, someone else @ the restaurant will. And girls don't like it when people talk bad about them. They will feel uncomftable, feeling like an outcast, even though you are the one who is barefooted. So yes, mostly all girls would mind.

It depends. If it's a nice restuarant than heck yeah. But if i'm like in Mexico and somewhere near the beach, than I really wouldn't care.
