The other day I went to visit a loved one at the cemetery and this is a very well taken care of famous cemetery. (not bragging here)
BUT, I was walking to my loved ones grave site and there was dog droppings near a headstone! It made me cringe! And then I hear a dog barking loudly at someone's funeral across the hill.
What kind of sick people would bring a dog to the funeral, and let it relieve itself?

This cemetery does not allow dogs or pets inside.

It is because God is not a part of most people's lives. Think about it - if YOU are the focus of your own universe and there is no higher power, then who cares?

You make your feelings matter because you have direct feedback for your actions, but when there are no immediate consequences, then it is just your sense of morality that makes us behave properly. Without God, then where does morality come from? You can make an argument that we have cultural norms of behavior that should rule, but those are rapidly eroding because the REASON for them is less and less a part of our daily lives.

Belief in God matters.

I hated to hear of your delimma.I think that maybe the droppings were from a coyote or a wild dog.People should not take their pets to the cemetery or the funeral----maybe it was a beloved pet of the deceased.I know what you me about behavior now days---you never know what to expect any more. You should call the cemetery care taker and tell them what all you have seen.Hope this helped.......

Perhaps there was a person who died who absolutely loved there dog and just so happens he couldn't hold it till he left. Though this is no excuse why the person with the dog shouldn't have cleaned it up afterwards and planned for it before. Just an idea why there was dog mess in a cemetery.

I have two dogs whom I adore. This does not mean that I feel the need to bring said animals with me everywhere I go, including the cemetary, grocery store, restaurant, beach, jewelry store, etc. People who do so are RUDE and quite selfish.

Not that this is anywhere near as bad, but I brought the trash to the curb this morning and someone had left their dogs doo on my lawn. This makes me angry since I go out of my way to pick up my dogs doo and bring it home to throw away.

You should complain to the manager of the cemetary to ensure that this rule is enforced.

However loafty you may feel about yourself or others around you - as a whole the human race and other species on this planet are primative.

We have primative instincts and behaviors, and man, I don't care how smart he is or how many gadget he invents, is about the most pathetic animal on this planet.

Ok, a dog takes a dump on a gravestone - it doesn't know any better. But the owner does, he just doesn't care about anything but himself.

Self presevation is so strong in man that I believe it will eventually be our undoing and lead to our own extinction.

It is rude and disgusting. When a cemetery in our town put a fence up people actually wrote into the newspaper complaining about it. One lady had the gall to write "Where am I supposed to walk my dog now" I wonder if she would like it if someone let their dog crap on her or a loved one's grave? Someone else wrote in "Where are my kids going to play?"....gee...there are 4 parks in this town...get off your lazy butt and take them!

Maybe the dog you heard barking belonged to the beloved deceased.

Still letting the dog do it's business and leaving it there is just wrong. It should have been picked up out of respect for everyone.

People have become self centered pigs alot of the time and are lazy enough to let their "pet" defecate in such places!

I would report it to the cemetery and see if they "get it" or are they just as bad as the joe publics who are doing this.

I would alert the keepers of the cemetery. They will handle the situation

Maybe the dog belonged to the person being buried and was their only companion at the end of their life.

In that instance it would be showing disrespect NOT to take the dog along.

As for the mess, how do you know it is someone who took a dog to the cemetary, and not a wild dog or one that had escaped from it's owners.

Making these assumptions is disrespectful to all sensible dog owners the world over.
