Me and my three friends are planning a New York-trip. Will cabdrivers accept driving all 4 of us at the same time?

It is legal for cabbies to take 3 in the back seat and 1 in the front - but, a lot of them don't want anyone up front with them - they have to clean up the front seat. Also, it is much easier for four females or mixed couples to get a taxi than it is for four males. Car services are a good alternative to cabs, and the public transportation system in New York is great - subway stops every ten blocks or less - bus stops almost always within five blocks of where you are and where you are going. Buses and trains run all night long. When cabs get stuck in traffic, or even when they are stopped at a light, the meter keeps running and you keep paying (not so with a car or limo service - that's a preset rate).

Have a wonderful time.

4 is the limit. 3 in back, 1 up front. Occasionally, they'll let you slip a 5th person in back but they usually make a big stink about it and the 5th person has to keep their head down the entire time or lay across everyones lap. They used to be a little more relaxed about letting you pack the cab with as many people that would fit but you can hardly find a cab driver that will allow it anymore. You may get some jerk that won't allow 4 people but he's in the wrong and you are allowed to have 4 people.

For the normal taxis, you can only have four riders - three in the back and one in front.

The law is that there are only as many people in the cab as there are seat belts.

Some groups with five people can try and find the mini-van taxis, which can fit more than four.

Taxi drivers have gotten much more strict about this recently, they are probably getting pulled over more for these types of summons.

Funny... I was reading this very rule on a slip of paper last week coming back from LaGuardia airport.

By law - regular cabs: max 4 ppl.
Minivans can take 5.

Enjoy the city!

Should be okay, as long as you're all skinny. One will have to be up front with the driver; not all drivers care for that too much, so tip extra.

It'll be easier if you happen to catch a town car instead of a yellow cab.

it may be a lot extra maximum not expensive to take the D prepare at Rockefeller center right down to thirty fourth highway and take the path prepare. you will possibly choose to alter at Pavonia/Newport station on the path for a WTC prepare.
