Since this is a public forum any one can answer any question they wish to answer. They can also ask anything they want. Everybody does not believe in the same thing. Most atheists were born inside of households that held a religious belief. They are not ignorant of religious practices and beliefs. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and the are free to voice it on this forum.

First you have to understand that religion is all opinion. Everyone has an opinion and therefore expresses it here on Y!A. The other thing you should realize is Christians answer questions posed by Atheists, (and often ridicule) so it works both ways.
You are obviously new, so stick around a while and you'll see how it works.

I had seen your question on the main page, i didnt even take notice that it was put in the wrong section :)
Hopefully you learn some insight in the question you ask. Please attempt to be less biased and more understanding... its so easy to find negative comments in things.
but yeah some form of wisdom is being acomplished here.... depending on what you really take from it.
The biggest problem really is people are so easily offended and quick to dish it back out.
I see what you are saying, some of it is true, but also notice all your answers and try and learn from them.
Peace and love... good luck to you as well.

I am the son, grandson, nephew, and cousin of Methodist ministers. I majored in Religion in College, then spent a year in Seminary. And I am an Atheist.
I think I'm probably better prepared to answer a number of these questions than most Christians. Just because someone's a shoemaker doesn't mean they don't know a lot about computers.

Atheists can be spiritual without believing in a deity. The topic title is "Religion and Spirituality" and atheists feel they have something to contribute to this subject. Would you prefer a forum where everyone agrees with your point of view? That doesn't sound like it would be much use to anyone.

Because we have opinions too. You see it as the blind leading the blind, but we se you as blind and we like to help others. Some people are just being mean.
Look at it this way. Everyone gets religion shoved in their face, from the preacher on th street corner, to being sworn in court on a bible, to saying the pledge of allegiance, etc. Why is it okay advertise your religion, but we can't state our opinion about it?

Atheists are blind? We aren't the ones walking around with a book of fables in front of our faces. We have our eyes bared to reality.
You don't want to see or have answers from atheists? Then go post on a christian site that censors posts by atheists. (Oh wait - such sites also censor christians who don't belong to their own cult.) Yahoo allows all range of views to be posted; clearly, you're afraid of free speech. Go start your own if you are afraid of atheists' words.
And what "god"? Prove one exists by performing one of the magic tricks: die, and then come back to life.
If you can't do it, then your "god" doesn't exist; if you're not willing to try, then don't have the courage to stand up for what you believe in...but we knew that already - you're afraid your "god" will cease to exist because of a single atheist's words.

But pretty much anything involving spirituality or religion IS just opinion. You can't prove God/Allah exists. And if you're only getting an opinion from people who belive the stuff, then the answer is going ot be extremely biased. If you dont like the answers you're recieving, look elsewhere.

I was blind and now I see.
You just don't beholdest the beam in your own eye,
My hope is that you will pluck the beam out while you are still younger than I was so that you might appreciate life more rather than longing for what will come after death.
