When applying for the police you have to disclose any conviction. Regardless if it is beyond the 7 year cut off point. For other jobs you dont need to mention it and employers cannot check however it is different with the police. Whether you are barred from joining the police is another matter. It depends how serious the incident was. Some convictions will barr you completely and others will just work against you. In you application you should address it in the section where you can write why they should employ you. If you dont then they will not let you proceed. Say things like you were young, stupid and that you learned a very good lesson from it and are a changed person. The police like people with experience of life. You do however have to address weaknesses in your application to be successful.

Depends on the location.
Starting salary in the St. Louis Metro Area averages about $30,000- $35,000 a year. In more rural areas, it can be about $9.00 an hour.

It varies between agencies. In California it pays well...starting over $60K a year in some places. On the east coast it is significantly less.

Depends on where you are. Salaries vary from city to city much less state to state. A little more info would be nice.

most people that want to become police officers do not do it for the money.Perhaps you should look for another vocation. you will never get rich being a cop. but it has its rewards, that money can't buy

Not only does the location matter, but if you have a degree or any kind of experience it will definitely benefit you. You can just check your local PD website.
