Gels are not good b/c they contain alcohol, which drys out hair and for curly hair you need those natural oils! I would recommend a ceramic top of the line straightener with a heat protectant like silk therapy, it's an investment but it WORKS. I have a CHI flat iron and there are many brands of hair products that you spray on right before ironing to protect and made your hair shiny and nice.

With the flat iron I use (I have VERY curly frizzy hair) the straightness lasts the two days between washings :) And don't use shampoo everytime, either just rinse or condition the ends. Hope I helped!

If she wants to wear it down and curly, mousse, creams and putty are best, esp. if have no alcohol in them. I use Suave products (Healthy Curls mousse and finishing spray) and let air dry. Suave is nice and cheap and still works great.

Although your daughter is white, you still may have to get her black hair care products. Try leave in conditioner after you wash it and blow dry it. Or take her to the salon and get a hot oil treatment. Using gel really only works for the moment it also dries her hair out more, which makes it more frizzier. Use flat irons on her hair and only wash every other day or so instead of everyday.

Mom? Are you my mom? I didn't know that you used this website!!! If you aren't my mom then sorry for bothering you, but you definitely sound like my mom and i'm 12 with kinky hair. I have the same problem; sleeping makes my hair messy.

That's really mean that you said I have an afro i don't really and even if i say i do that doesn't mean you can because it's insulting and mean. I would appreciate it if you would please NOT SHARE MY PERSONAL PROBLEMS WITH THE ENTIRE ANSWERS COMMUNITY IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS! OR THEIRS!

I would appreciate it if you would just keep quiet about this and don't talk to me about it because frankly I have enough problems in my life without you. Sorry but I really don't want you to talk about this lets forget it ever happened and don't do it again because now i know your account name.

Again, if you're not my mother I'm sorry, this is kind of awkward.......

I use the John Frieda (sp) Frizz Ease line. I too have curly hair and the products work wonders for frizz prone hair. The prices aren't bad either. Good luck and hope this helps.

Try the Treseme frizz controller, my hair is the same way and if you try to straiten it it'll take at least 2 hours before she goes to sleep and after she wakes up.

Ok, try to straighten it at night before she goes to bed and put it up in something, or you can take to get it relaxed, or you can put a bunch of Conditioner in it and wrap it up in a small plastic bag and leave it for an hour that should tame it as well. Good luck. Muha!
