every "house game" or casino uses their own color system. Many casinos have similar color/values.....white = $1.00....red = $5.00 etc.

Casino chips, where for Poker or other tables games like Blackjack, always have their value indicated on them and come a variety of colours.
The chips you can by the play with a home normally come in a four colour combination (White, Red, Green and Blue) They are given the values that the players wish them to have, but always in the order above; White is lowest, Blue the highest.
This is why top quality stocks on the Stock market are referred to as 'Blue Chip' companies.

For most US casinos, white chips are worth $1, red are $5, green are $25, black are $100, purple are $500, yellow are $1000, and brown are $5000. You may find other denominations like $3 and $10 chips that are unique to poker rooms. You may also find a rainbow of $1 chips used on roulette tables to help the house distinguish between players.

Poker chips are different from one place to another. There is no guarantee that a red chip is ALWAYS worth $X. There can be some consensus, but still there can be minor variations. But the value is always written on the chip in a casino, even in tournaments, so it is pretty clear what each chip is worth.
