You'll have no trouble getting the soft top part out, but in order to get the root out, you're going to have to go digging between the root and the bone with a very slim but extremely strong instrument - kind of exactly like dentists have and know how to use. If you don't do this, you will end up with an infection (if you don't have one already) and more pain than you can imagine. If you do have an infection and try to remove your own tooth, you'll just push it deeper into your jaw bone and end up in bad shape. Those "shards of tooth" will be at the bottom of a hole that is only 4 or 5 mm wide, but 15-20 mm deep. Be careful not to damage the nerve at the bottom of the hole if it's a lower tooth, because this could leave your lip numb for the rest of your life. And whatever you do, don't puncture your maxillary sinus if it's an upper tooth, or you will end up in the hospital with an infection.
The trick to getting teeth out smoothly is to ask someone who has done a hundred or a thousand to do it for you. I'm sure I could not do what you do for a living and you should not try to do what I do for a living. We could both get into a lot of trouble and I know that at least one of us could hurt themselves.

Do not do that, if you are in pain take some extra strong painkillers and ring the emergency dentist, they will give you what you need. The root and nerve probably will come out if the tooth doesn't snap in your gum., you could cause yourself and a dentist major problems. You could cause damage to ofher teeth, the tooth could break leaving fragments ot the roots in your gum. Good luck I know tooth ache is miserable, I am a dental nurse and have seen some sights, but please do not do that!!!

Yea when I was little & my dad was still alive he used to always carry pliers in his pocket. Well I had a lose tooth & he sanatized them first then he pull my tooth. He didn't really hurt that bad for me. My dad died of a massive heart attack the day after my 11th Birthday. I'm 15 now going on 16. R.I.P. Jimmie Don Hunter the 1st. August 26, 2003.

Ordinary pliers grip the top of the tooth and tend to break it rather than getting a good grip for extraction. This is quite useful for interrogating suspects but is of little use for conventional dentistry. Splash out for a pair of some proper extracting forceps and avoid the complications.

There is a good chance the root will break ,especially if it is a molar you are pulling.
The nerve will sever. It will be raw for a while.
I would only recommend pulling your own tooth if it is a loose incisor.
The dentist doesnt particularly apply any skill to removal but ,he is in a postition to take remedial action if the pull isnt clean.

No.
When the Dentist rips a tooth out, he/she would use a set of surgical pliers.
You are injected because the amount of pain would be unbearable without it.
The tooth is literally ripped from the gum, the nerve or root is disconnected from the tooth and is left behind.
If you have ever trapped a nerve, just imagine what it feels like to have a nerve (which is sensitive enough to feel a gentle touch through thick teeth enamel!) wrenched and snapped away from its mooring!
You would be screaming for a long time!
Please! See a dentist before you do irreparable damage!
Most of them can handle highly nervous patients (I'm one, I've hit 2 before now cos i'm scared big time).
Good luck.)

NO it wont come out with roots intact etc unless you are trained (dentist) what will probably happen is that you will probably shatter the crown exposing the nerve which will hurt more. there is a membrane in which the tooth sits in that has to be loosened first...please dont attempt it yourself you will do more harm.....if you are in pain and need a Dentist and r in the uk 08454647 they will put you in touch with an emergency dentist in your area.............Good luck

Mine didn't, the tooth simply snapped and now I need to have the root removed by a dentist.

probably not. becasue there is a special technique used. i used to work as a dental assistant. and even the dentist couldnt always do it. so she had to drill out the root of broken pieces of tooth.
