A travesty is a grotesque or farcical imitation for purposes of ridicule. In Spanish that would be a 'travesura.'
NOTE: Travesty in Spanish is NOT "travesti, travestido, or travestir." These words define a person who 'cross-dresses;' that is, a man who dresses in woman's clothing.
H
I don't know why people keep telling you that travesty in Spanish is "travesti?" A TRAVESTI is a TRANSVESTITE, that is, a person who dress in clothing of the opposite sex. I've double-checked my sources (besides being a native Spanish-speaker).
