I don't mean to be or sound offensive to women but I want to know why the legal system and society in a whole seem to believe that the mothers are the childs best interst in custody situations? I know there alot of good women out there but there are indeed alot of good fathers out there too! So what makes a woman superior in the child raising sector?

I understand that alot of women are good mothers but I have seen cases where the mothers were as unfit as unfit could be but they get custody regardless. Or how about when a father takes his ex to Court for Custody and the first thing they want to know from the father is where do you work and how much do you make or how big is your home. But these are never questions I have heard them ask a mother. She can be jobless and never had a job and live solely on welfare and it doesn't raise a eyebrow from anyone but a father fighting for Custody better have a dang good job and a dang good Attorney? What makes them superior with the children?

My husband was awarded custody of his son from his first marriage, and I later adopted him. There are plenty of fathers rights groups out there now that are helping fathers get more custody and access to their children.

Historically women have been the ones who stayed home and took care of the kids, while it was the men who worked and made the money. While times have changed, the bias in the legal system is slow to catch up. It isn't that one sex is better than the other when it comes to child rearing, many people simply still have the mindset that the woman should still be the primary caregiver.

Sometimes matters are unfair to fathers. I agree that dad and mom will have to have identical rights. Maybe its the popularity that guys have got over decades, they've extra of a bent to stroll away, cheat, do medicines, or abuse. Or in view that guys make more cash in such a lot jobs. Or they paintings such a lot that they cant make the time to take youngsters. Maybe motive females typically have a much better maternal intuition to defend their little one at any fee! This may also be well and dangerous. Some females are ruthless and make matters look worse than they're. There is not any wrath just like the wrath of a girl scorn. You have a well query. Perhaps individuals must take marriage alittle extra critically. Then there could be much less divorce. Instead of individuals watching to divorce as an out, probably we will have to ought to take courting/marriage categories Before we even input into this kind of most important dedication. Many individuals feel that its consider to be convenient to be in a courting, after they rather want tons of labor, time and vigor. Its now not all Lovey always. Or probably the Ads are makin guys suppose like they're getting the fast stick motive the Ads are seeking to rake within the cash. They play on insecurities and delight ya recognize.

I agree, for a few real MEN out there, it does seem unfair. This theory that moms are the better caretaker stems from the beginning of time. Woman have breasts to nurse the babies and generally a more nurturing nature, thus more equipped to raise babies and children. The phrase "no one will ever love you like your mother" is so true. However when a MAN does want to step up to the plate and take an active role in raising their children, it is a shame the courts would want to stand in their way. Hats off to all the men out there that change diapers and kiss scraped knees and are such good role models.God bless you guys!

I hear that same old story about carrying a child for nine months bs. Men have a bond with their child as well that is just as strong and possibly in some cases stronger. In the past and I mean distant past, men always got custody and women didnt because men could provide better financially for the child. Then the womens rights groups got involved and got that changed because men didnt stick together like women do. Now men today are paying the price for our forefathers indescretions. But fathers make just as good a parent as mothers do. But we dont stand up and push for our equal rights.

I totally agree with you. When my parents divorced, my mother was awarded sole custody when in actuality my father was much more fit for parenthood than she was. It doesn't make any sense to me either. I think the courts should take a good look at both parents and base their decisions on many different things, other than gender alone, before deciding where the child belongs.

20 years ago I would agree with you.But I just won a custody case.I'm a man,I have never been married. She was a 3 year old girl. And I had a woman judge.I'm not wealthy. The mother was not a drunk or drug addict.I was just a better parent.and the court thought that in the best interest of my daughter she should be with me.But it's rare this happens ,My lawyer thought I was nuts to even try.But the court saw that the mother was self centered woman that only thought of herself and not my daughter and they awarded her to me.PS I didn't ask for it ,But she is paying me child support and half the medical and daycare

the mother carried the child for 9 months. the father did not do that, and I think this is why mothers are automatically in the child's best interest. women are expected to take care of children while men are expected to work and take care of their families. that's just the way it is.

Mothers, and women, are usually seen as nurturing and caring. Of course this isn't always true, as some fathers are more so than the woman!

I know, I don't fully understand it either, but that's the law.
