I had a loan with my bank then lost my job so my repayments went over to a debt collector who i was paying back monthly. Then they started hasstling me for all the money and kept ringing me with offers and in one day I got about 9 phone calls from this company and in the end I said sod your debt you now get nothing and stop ringing me. Well it now seems 2 debt collectors have this same debt and they are both asking for it? any advice

Try contacting your citizens advice bureau for advice on this one. They have people who can advise on debt issues and may be able to liaise with the collectors on your behalf to agree a repayment amount.

The bank have sold your dept to a collecting agency. It cant be given to 2 agencies. These people will (unless you come up with a payment plan with them) will end up taking it to court and you can get bankrupted ( you dont say how much it is for) If its not a tremendous amount, is it worth get made bankrupt over it.

They are not allowed to harass you. Demand to speak to a supervisor, tell them ALL future correspondance is to be in writing & that you will be contacting an attorney regarding unfair debt collect practices if they don't stop. Also file a claim against them & learn your rights here.
