Same car, same problem. I had so many problems that I ditched the car and bought an Explorer Sport Trac in 04 and have been very happy since.
Apply for a refund through the regional distributor for Jeep in your area. It took a year, but I got every dime back I had to spend on that piece of junk.

I haven't had a problem with mine, but there was definitely a recall on that issue, so I took it in.

How long ago did you take it to the dealer? I just got the recall notice mailed to me a few weeks ago, but I know the problem/recall has been known for months.

I can send you the specific information and instructions for reimbursement from Chrysler from the recall notice I received. Basically, you just have to send in copies of any past repair receipts and they'll reimburse you. Email me at scottaadams@gmail.com if you need those instructions. Or send a message to me here on yahoo answers, but I don't really know how to do the messaging on here.

My girlfriend has an 06 Liberty and Jeep had a recall on the ball joints, so I would go have them checked out to see if your Liberty falls into the recall

Yes, there are only 2 front lower ball joints on your Jeep. Apparently you had them replaced before the recall. My daughter has a 2002 Jeep, and she received that recall several months ago.

If you still have your paperwork from the original repair, you can submit a claim with Chrysler to get reimbursed for the repair. At the time the recall may not have existed, but now that it does have the dealer perform it. It's a free repair.
