Yeah well, it can go the other way too. My BF's ex knew he was seeing someone new (me) yet she continued to text and call him. It got on my nerves bad, to the point where I sent her a really mean text from my BF's phone one night without him knowing. Immature I know, and he was mad when he found out, but I'd do it again LOL.
I don't know why people go for exes...it's familiar and you think that since you had something at one time, maybe you can spark it back up. But, it does not always work out the second time around if the issues from the first breakup aren't resolved.
As for wanting an ex who's moved on...that's just a human's way of realizing that even though they don't really want that person any more or that person no longer wants them, they don't want anyone else to have them either!

This is an age-old problem that won't be solved during our lifetimes. Sorry. :) People want what they can't have. If a man breaks up, pushes his partner away, then sees that someone else is interested, many times he'll fight to get her back. But unfortunately, the cycle usually starts all over again, and he'll probably do it again, or they will fall back into their same dysfunctional patterns as a couple. Happens every time.
My experience has been that the guy pops back up in your life when you're least expecting it. I've been dumped, got really hurt with some men, had trouble moving on, finally did move on, and then months later I'll get a phone call from the guy who dumped me. He had gotten into a relationship after me that went south on him, and he was feeling sorry for himself and called me up.
Everybody is struggling with dating and relationships. They are hard. If you are over the age of about 15, you've got baggage, emotional baggage, that you bring to each relationship. So does your partner.

Every guy is different it could be they dont want you but they dont want anyone with you also they want to know that you will always b there and avalible. My ex-bf did the same thing broke up with me and found out i got a new boyfriend bout a year later he try to start something again and says i didn't know what i had and now someone else got my girl. SO I GUESS YOU CAN SAY YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE TILL ITS GONE THE FAMOUS SAYING

I'm a guy and I didn't. My ex wanted me back, but I declined. I think you generalized your observation. But my answer would be the "person" realizes the grass is not greener.

Men unfortunately view women as possessions and always think of the ex as their safety net

Obsesive, compulsive, controling... A man that breaks up with a woman & then wants her back only after she has gotten involved with a new guyis a sad individual. I mean, he had his chance, it's over now... HE needs to move on.
