My husband had it done about 7 years ago and i can quite honestly say it was the best money we ever spent, it was little things he loved like still being able to see the kids in the swimming pool once he had taken his glasses off and being to open the dishwasher without steaming up. His sight was quite bad before he had it done he had a focal length of about 2 inches without his glasses plus he had astigmatisms which were all corrected free of charge, he is now over 40 and was told to expect some deterioration in his eyes but as yet it hasn't happened, just in case you are interested he had it done at Optimax in Finchley Road in London, hope that helps you to come nearer to a decision

For most people, yes. Over 95% of people are happy to very happy with the result, even if it has left some degree of side or after-effect, and again, that's only a small percentage of people. (but if it's you, the incidence is 100%: you don't get a percentage of the problem.) The most common reasons for dissatisfaction are: Rx afterwards not as near zero as hoped Flare or glare at night, Dry eyes, temporarily or permanently. The more severe problems are very rare, but they do exist. I have had people I could not correct to decent vision with glasses or contact lenses, following laser refractive surgery. The odds are very good. But risk-free it isn't, which is why you'll be asked to sign a consent form saying you understand that. A sample consent form is below: just one I found on-line, I have no connection with the site or business. See also the FDA site for more information.

My Mum had it done after wearing contacts/glasses all her life and she says it is the best thing she has ever done, she can see individual Christmas lights rather than one big blur and stuff like that and says it is amazing. She has recommended to my brother that he does it too, so as far as I can tell via my Mum's experience, it is a good idea. However, even though she could read straight away, the procedure is described as quick and painless (slightly uncomfortable) which it is, but she did suffer for several days afterwards, though it can be done in your lunch hour you will probably need time off work to recover. Hope all goes well whatever you decide!

My two sons have laser eye surgery and both are happy with the results. We however made sure that the eye doctor was competent and had done many such surgeries without any complications.

I had laser eye surgery 10 years ago and have never regretted it.

My uncle had it done when it very first came out and he swears by it. I'd have it done if I had the money. Just make sure you use a reputable clinic.
