Its been a long time since I heard that expression for a b i tch in season - used by a Greyhound trainer.
They can start anytime from about 6 months up to around 14 months with 7-9 months being most common.

It all depends what breed and size the dog is - it's usually between 6 and 9 months and the smaller the dog the earlier it will break down, so your yorkie should have her first season at around 6 months

Do you mean the coat color? I'm not a yorkie expert, but I believe they're supposed to start breaking sometime between 7-12 months.
