A couple weeks ago I was stressed out about some things (a car repair). I went to the ATM to get some money out and I wasn't thinking, and I drove off with my card still in the ATM machine. About 45 minutes later I realized it and went back, my card was nowhere and the bank was already closed. I called and the bank said that if the card sits there for so long, the ATM machine takes the card back in. I don't know for sure whether or not that happened but I didn't want to take that chance and I cancelled my card.
Luckily nothing further was withdrawn than what I already took out myself. But, I'd have been up the creek without a paddle if it had - a really bad situation. I don't like being stolen (who does) from and I wouldn't want to put someone else through that. I am living check-to-check some months and knowing I was stealing from someone, **especially** someone having a bit of a money problem (though no one deserves to be stolen from), would make me feel guilty for a real long time.
Heck - when I got carry out last week for lunch, the total was $5.29 and I gave the girl $5.30. She gave me 21 cents back (thinking I gave her $5.50 I think). I walked away and looked at the change and walked back to give her back the extra 20 cents. LOL.

If I saw that, I'd select No, then take the card inside and leave it with one of the tellers. If it was a card from a different bank, or the ATM wasn't attached to a bank, I'd call the bank where the card came from and report that it was left behind and request that the card be inactivated and the owner of the account contacted.
There was one time I found a credit card sitting in the middle of a parking lot. Since I didn't know who it belonged to, I brought it home, called the credit card company then cut up the card. They were actually quite shocked that I called. But I'm an honest person.

No. I would have ended the transaction, removed the card, and brought it inside (if it were at a bank or other retail type location). If it weren't at a retail location, I would have either called the person on the card or just called the bank where the card was issued from to explain the situation.
I do not steal, no matter how easy someone makes it.

No and when the person realizes what happened they will report it. Next the bank will pull the video from the ATM and CW will be exposed and charged with petty theft! Just because the person before CW had a brain lapse that does not make what CW did right or legal!

Just had that happen about a month ago. I took the guys card out and took it into the bank so they could return it.
I'm pretty sure if I was dishonest enough to take any money the camera could be matched up to the transaction and my bank could ID me. If there was no camera it could have been tempting but I still would not have taken it.

As much as the easy money would be tempting I would think about how I would feel if I was stupid enough to leave the ATM while my account was still up. I would want the person behind me to leave my account alone. As for the person who left the ATM too early... there is no way anyone could have been in that big of a hurry to get somewhere to make that kind of mistake. Still theft is wrong.

No. Any honest person would have just went ahead and pushed NO, and then dropped the ATM card off at the bank or in a mailbox......most cards have the address of the institution on them.
Hopefully the owner of the card reported his missing card and will not be penalized for the money the other person stole.

God what a thing to happen.I would make the bank aware of what has taken place and see if the ATM can't prove that the card was left behind, and the person behind was greedy and wanted to steal some money. After all, all they had to do was turn the card in.How did they just walk away and not here the beeping of the ATM machine?....Poor thing.

No. I don't steal.
What I WOULD do would be to press "no" and look for the person who left the card. If they were nowhere in sight, I would take the card into the bank, explain to the teller it was left and ask them to contact the owner.
This happened to me once in college. I took the card and got out of a VERY long ATM line to chase down the owner and return his card to him. He couldn't believe I would do that. At least he now knows there's one honest person in the world.
