I know people say you should just try to focus on the positive things, but how do you stop thinking about the negative at the same time? How do some people manage to just completely ignore those negative things?

Wow!
Great question!!!!

Yes, It is indeed possible.
It's a longer processes than some may think.
You can't exactly just tell your self in one minute
"Think of only the postive" and it happen that easly.
Especially when you have thought negitivly for so long that
it has become your brain pattern and your ideal way of thinking.

It takes time, As well a practice.
Your mind believes what you want it to believe.
You can convince your self of anything, even if it is not reality.
Your brain is a like a relational database. ( Almost like how a computer works, Just with an ungodly fast processor ) You can program your brain, And make your thought pattern change as much as you'd like.

You can tell your self something, anything over & over again on a day to day basis & your brain will automatically register the information & believe it to be true.

Your brain recognizes your voice,
It knows when you are speaking to it,
And it believes every word you say.
Thus if you tell your self something over and over again,
you will eventually believe it.
You can indeed change your ways of thinking,
But it takes a while if you have been prone to speaking & thinking a certain way your entire life.

You have to believe in your self,
And you have to remind your self on a daily basis of how you wish to think and create your reality.
The things you want to happen & the things that will happen should always go hand in hand in your own mind.

The mind is very powerful.
If you think negative, you are putting the negative energy out,
When you put negative energy & vibrations out,
the negative will indeed come back to you 3 times fold.
( Meaning if you think negative thoughts, Or if you continue to make negative actions, only negative will come back to you )

You can indeed change your thoughts....
You have to meditate, let your soul gravitate to the love.
Literally.

- I don't mean you have to sit there on the floor with your legs crossed for hours upon hours just thinking about the positive, I mean you have to create it in your own mind, Think of the positive, When you start to think negatively, tell your self that the negative thoughts aren't what you want to be thinking, then think of something positive. Don't just think about the positive, IN VISION the positive. See what you want to happen, and focus on that.

If you continue to do this,You will change your thought processes faster than you could even imagine. It's already happening if you tell your self that you wish to only love, care, help others, and think positive.

I would like to state,
That you cannot "ignore" the rest of the world.
Reality is indeed reality,
And what happens, may not always be in your control.
But you have to be okay & comfortable with that.
Because not everything is actually in "one persons" hand all the time.

It's all a matter of how you can deal with the situations in life that make a HUGE difference in your life and the ones around you.
You can go around loving life & yourself as well as others.
Or you can go around hating life, and the situations as well as hating others, but I will be here to tell you, that hating life and others doesn't help you to grow, evolve and become one with the universe. In fact, It only in-traps you into your state of mind, which after so long, it's hard to change that. Not that it's IMPOSSIBLE to change that, But that it just becomes more & more difficult as time goes on. It's never impossible to change any unhappiness in your life. Because it's merely all perception.

When things happen in life,
They happen,
Some would call the situations "good" as well as "bad"
But everything does indeed happen for a reason.
The experiences in life are meant to be embraced,
The good and the bad experiences are meant to be embraced...
And they are meant to be learned from.
Everything in life is a learning process.
Life is like school in a sense.....
Your meant to live it, & Learn from it.

I hope the way I am explaining this is making it clear cut, as well as easy to understand.....

If not, I'd like to simplify it...

So allow me to put it this way :

I wake up in the morning and I consciously create my day the way I want it to happen. Now sometimes, because my mind is examining all the things that I need to get done, it takes me a little bit to settle down and get to the point of where I'm actually intentionally creating my day. But here's the thing: When I create my day and out of nowhere little things happen that are so unexplainable, I know that they are the process or the result of my creation. And the more I do that, the more I build a neural net in my brain that I accept that that's possible. (This) gives me the power and the incentive to do it the next day.

So if we're consciously designing our destiny, and if we're consciously from a spiritual standpoint throwing in with the idea that our thoughts can affect our reality or affect our life -- because reality equals life -- then I have this little pact that I have when I create my day. I say, 'I'm taking this time to create my day and I'm infecting the quantum field. Now if (it) is in fact the observer's watching me the whole time that I'm doing this and there is a spiritual aspect to myself, then show me a sign today that you paid attention to any one of these things that I created, and bring them in a way that I won't expect, so I'm as surprised at my ability to be able to experience these things. And make it so that I have no doubt that it's come from you,' and so I live my life, in a sense, all day long thinking about being a genius or thinking about being the glory and the power of God or thinking about being unconditional love.

( I can & would love to elaborate upon the "creating my day with my thoughts" if you'd like, It's actually quite intellect, but I truly would love to explain it if you'd like, that'd way you can get a better understand of it )

:)

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness, in a descending spiral of destruction. The chain reaction of evil must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation.

It sounds a little cheesy,
But it is indeed the truth.
( Or at least my perception of the truth, that is! )

All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered; the point is to discover them.

I hope I helped at least a little!

XoXoXo

The thing that has worked best for me when my mind keeps going to the negative is to make a 'gratitude list.' No matter how bad things have been I have always had much to be grateful for. Start with the fact that you are alive, that you have thumbs (think about it, it would be tough without them), and that you have the brain god gave you. Go on from there.. If that doesn't work, take a special time out to concentrate only on the negative things. Put aside 10 minutes where that is ALL you think about (let me know if you can actually do it for 10 minutes without your mind wandering to other things.) Whatever your faith or relegious background, prayer helps too.. Even if you are agnostic, it helps take your brain off those terrible things they are going on about.

It is a hard thing for me to do, but I have learned not to dwell on the negatives as it brings you down. And if you are down, people around you get down, it's almost contagious you know. I do try to think of things like what my kids did funny when they were little, or picturing my cats and my dog fighting with each other, it is almost like watching a Tom and Jerry cartoon. I try not to be negative but always positive. I was even told by my manager at my job, that bringing happiness and positive attitude makes everyone in the office a happy person as well. LIke I said, it can be hard, but it can be done too. Good luck to you.

Hey Straws, this might help...

Start each day by writing in a journal. In the entry, consider all the things that you were grateful for from the day before... then list them. Even when our outlooks seem dim, if you really consider ALL the aspects of your life, you can find things (sometimes just the littlest things) to be grateful for. If you start each day thinking about those things, perhaps that will help you set the tone for yourself for the rest of the day and keep yourself from falling into that "negative trap". Look for the good things; they are there and its important to recognize them. Good Luck!

well, one way is to prioritize; you shouldn't just be blind to the world, but you can prioritize your thoughts to focus on things that need to be done immediately and forget about things that don't concern you or that you can't do anything about. another way is to make a list; that way you can put those things away from the top of your mind once you have them on the list. yes you can stop thinking about negative things and just think about the things most immediate to you; some of those things might be negative. prioritize. no need to think of everything at once.

You find things/people in life that are positive, like a job you enjoy or friend and hopefully you'll start to take a more positive outlook on life.
