This is my favorite at the moment. It's by an old Greek poet named Aeschylus:

"He who learns must suffer. And even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon our hearts. And in our despair, against our will, comes wisdom by the awful grace of God."

Don't think he's saying God is awful, it's just that sometimes life's lessons are. Wisdom is the knowledge of all things... good AND evil.

The Beatitudes, I can't explain why they move me but they do. It exemplifies Jesus message of peace, and love.

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,
for they shall possess the earth.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for justice,
for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called sons of God.

Blessed are they who suffer persecution for justice sake,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
