windows media should download codecs automatically! r u playing streaming video? because alot of times that message comes up on my system then 1/2 hour later it plays perfect! it could be that the server is down! but if the files are local (on your system) it could be that the setting in windows media not to download codecs! if it is checked, yaho search it "free codec (file type here) windows media" tryit with the quotes if nothing, try it without!!
for the records, what is the type of file is it/format? avi mpeg?
