My face always goes bright red whenever Im in a social situation or if i think people r looking at me. I know its silly but I just cant stop it and find myself thinking about it all the time, and im starting to feel down about the whole thing.

I had the same problem for 20 years...until last year. I saw a specialist because the problem got to me so much, I felt it was taking over my life. I hated the fact that I was living a life purely on what I felt I could cope with rather than what I new I was capable of...I don't know if that makes sense? When I saw the specialist I told him that I would rather die than continue to live my life the way I was, because I was to shy to go anywhere or talk to anyone. I had contemplated taking my own life on many occasions. I didn't blush a dirty jokes, I am very open minded. I blushed if someone was talking to me, right in the middle of a conversation for absolutely no reason at all and I knew it made them as uncomfortable as it did me, which made me worse! The specialist told me about an experimental operation called a cervical sympathectomy. If you look this up on Google, it will mainly tell you about the operation which stops sweating of the hands but this operation has been used to stop facial flushing. It is not 100% in all cases. Please don't think the operation is simple. Firstly they go into the left or right hand side of your your chest and deflate your lung, they then cut a nerve in your spine and you have a tube going into your chest just below your neck which is the tube they use to re-inflate the lung once the operation is over. I had one side done then the other about 6 months after that. They cannot do both sides at once because there could be complications i.e. the lung colapsing. There are other worries too, like a mistake when they cut the nerve in the spine, which can cause paralysis. People don't understand why I was willing to take this risk. It all sounds pretty awful and to be honest it was and very painful, but I can honestly say it has made a difference to my life. I am more confident than I have ever been and I now have a career and I am living my life on my terms. I have been very blunt about my answer because I feel I need to be just so as you know it is not 'the easy option'. I guess it depends on how desparate you feel. The only other advice I can give you is somehow you need to gain more self-confidence and apart from confidence building classes, I don't know what to suggest, I tried everything and nothing worked for me.

I have the same problem. I've found the more confident I am in situations, the less the blushing occurs.
I blush when I'm embarrassed, glad to see someone, or when I'm the center of attention. It sucks! My husband has (incorrectly) interpreted it thinking I'm blushing cause I'm attracted to someone!
I haven't found a solution but I know the more I worry about it, the more it happens.
It's just a physiological response that is out of our control. Don't feel too bad about it. I've been told several times that it's considered charming and/or a sign of innocence. I'll keep checking on the answers to see if anyone has any LOGICAL tips! Sorry I couldn't help more.

I get the same thing, it's strange cause I'm not shy and I'm confident in front of people. In my work I often have to stand in front of up to two to three hundred people and deliver lectures or presentations, and I still start the whole thing off by blushing profusely, but it goes after a while. I have tried a number of things to stop it such as breathing exercises and things like that but none worked. Then I started imagining people sitting on the toilet and it's helped me no end. I guess it's down to finding something that helps you put yourself on an equal footing with everyone else psychologically.

In my case it has to do with feeling like people will judge me as hardly as i judge myself. It´s not that silly or simple of a subject, and i understand that you feel down about it. I even got to the point of not attending events just because of it. Try not to do that, because then it´ll be harder to get back in the game.

What helps me is to take control of the situation and start conversations in spite of knowing i´m blushing. That gives you a very empowering feeling, and it does help with feeling more confident and therefore not blushing.

Maybe your case is different, maybe you need to find out the root of those feelings that make you feel inadequate or whatever. For that, you can try a counselor. Wish you the best.

You blush because blood rushes to your face. Try some relaxation and breathing techniques. They will calm you down, therefore the blood won't rush to your face. Hope this helps!

You should try and be less self-critical and aware. Show an interest in other people and take the focus off yourself - ask them lots of questions about themselves (ones that can't be answered with a one word answer are helpful) as people love to talk about themselves. The more they talk, the more wonderful they think you are! Try it next time - I bet you it works!

I hate that because the redder you go the more embarressed you get so you go redder. I dont know of any cure but maybe you can buy a good makeup to sort it out.

Perhaps you could wear make up to hide the red colour.
