what an interesting detail. i hadn't heard about it. however, the red dot thing can be 2 types.
1. red bindi. it is merely a decoration for women. like wearing earrings. it doesn't mean the woman is married or anything.
2. red dot made of powder. some hindus use a certain powder to paint this dot on their forehead. it is to cool down their head and to protect the sixth chacra, commonly know as the third eye.

well let me see, since you have not read the verses dealing with this you do not know all you are saying. God puts his name of the foreheads of the believers, the anti-christ puts the number on the forehead or right hand of the disbelievers. God put a mark on Cain. You obviously have not read the bible to know what you are talking about, and you have not met many hindus either. some use red, some use black, some use purple, and some use none. according to my friend who is Hindu, there is a whole lot of meaning in the color, like where you are from, what caste you are in, your economic status and what particualr kind of branch you are in. it is something they have done by tradition for many years.

The hindu red dot is placed by a human, not an angel. No Christian would put a dot on their forehead, they would wait for an angel to do it.

This red dot on a lady's forehead means that she is married lady in the Indian tradition. Is like wearing a wedding band in western tradition.

Well the red dot for hindus means they are married, right? We have a similar practice with wearing rings on certain fingers.

I always thought that Hindus (at least the women) used a red dot to show that they were married. I could have sworn my teacher (who was a Hindu woman) said that that was the reason.

There are various marks various people have put on their heads in various religions through history... Catholics put ashes on their forehead during "Ash Wednesday", etc. Don't read too much into it. The Bible is a book full of stories which are NOT to be taken literally in any reality, even the Magisterium of the Catholic Church claims this... despite the fact that they, too, cafeteria approach their own faith on what they believe and not.
