Jesus was not the founder of Christianity as we know it today. Most of the New Testament doesn't even concern the historical Jesus while the main influence is the Apostle Paul and through the church he founded at Ephesus a Greek convert named John. Paul never met Jesus in the flesh, he only claimed some strange vision and proceeded to paganize the teachings of Jesus (who preached an enlightened form of Judaism), until he created Pauline Christianity. Because there are no known writings from Jesus, the actual Apostles, or anyone that actually knew Him in the flesh (other then perhaps James), most of what He taught is lost forever.

Jesus is regarded by Christians as the founder of their religion because events of his life lay the foundation story of Christianity. While a man named Jesus may be the foundation of Christianity, Paul is regarded as the great interpreter of Jesus' mission, who explained, in a way that Jesus himself never did, how Jesus' life and death fitted into a cosmic scheme of salvation, stretching from the creation of Adam to the end of time. The doctrines of Christianity come mostly from the teaching or influence of Paul, a Pharisee(?) who rejected his Pharisaic Judaism and converted to what he called Christ. Paul would later be placed over his Jewish-Christian rivals by a Gnostic heretic named Marcion.

It was God. Christianity embodies a set of believers in Jesus the Christ (Christ of-course translates to Messaiah). But if you look at the values and what Jesus thought, he thought about the Kingdom of God and the ways of the Kingdom. Both of these came before men even existed... Jesus himself was as John 1 states before anything existed. So... while in a historical sense you can say that Christianity started with Peter (not Paul), the cornerstone is Chirst Jesus who also founded Judaism (being one with the Father, YHWY). Christianity is Judaism fulfilled, accepting the foretold King of Kings... so, now do we want to go back and give credit to Abraham, or perhaps Adam... no, it is God Almighty that should be credited with Christianity... without him there wouldn't be a single heart, that would beat with love.

The first 3,000 baby Christians were Born on the day of Pentecost as the Holy Spirit touched them with flames of fire while Peter was preaching. All the disciples then went out to preach & affirm that which Jesus had taught them.

In a way it was Jesus ...but... Jesus did NOT set up a church during His mortal ministry. Paul taught only that which he was directed to teach.. Then who founded the Church.. The Holy Spirit of God created the Church. He came to those who believed on Jesus and rested on each of them. He added to the Church daily those who were being saved. God founded the Church through the works of the Holy Spirit... Jim

The Roman Emporer Constantine as a means of saving his quickly dividing empire. While Constantine sanctioned christianity, he continued to practice paganism. He was a pagan who was baptised on his death bed.
The council of Nicea was the "legislative" body that decided on everything from the books of the bible, the sacraments, and even the divinity of christ.
This all took place in the 4th century AD.

It seems silly to me that this question is raised so often. Jesus Christ founded CHRISTianity.
The apostle Paul used the precepts of Christianity to go about setting up Churches, based on the teachings of Jesus, and revelations from God.

The Church Jesus Christ conventional in 33AD and gave to Peter to steer and named become the delivery of Christianity and the Catholic Church. And which one had the bible first? If the Catholics got here first, positioned the bible jointly, and for this reason had the bible first, doesn't it stand to reason that they have got the striking understanding of it? If I keep in options accurate, even although there are an excellent type of you differing christian sects operating round with bibles at present, you all did not branch off from Catholicism till nicely over one thousand years AFTER the bible become practice and hashed out by way of Catholics. So, christians, how are you going to dare say that the Catholics do not comprehend what their speaking about? in case you do not believe of their teachings, why the heck to you examine and quote from their bible?

Paul and pagan emperor Constantin.
That's why christianity is so far from what Jesus was trying to teach.
Paul had a real problem dealing with sexuality , something that Jesus obviously did not for example.

I am inclined to say Jesus. Paul spread the teachings of Jesus. These teachings (started by Jesus) were the foundation of Christianity. Paul's message of Christianity came from Jesus. Jesus founded Christianity.

Jesus is associated with beginning what is called Christianity but Paul is actually the person that made it more than a local belief system.
