I live on the 1st floor of a 2 floor condo. My neighbor's furnace is under me and sounds like a jet taking off when it is running. 2 months ago, I went upstairs and told her that the thing was really loud and annoying and that she should have it looked at. (The thing sounds like it's going to explode.) She said that she has known about it for a while and that she should have it checked and fixed. 2 month's later, she hasn't done a thing about it (Remember, she's on the 2nd floor, so the thing doesn't bother her at all).
Should I go talk to her again or just call the home owner's association? Or is there something else I can do? (Without getting me screwed over some how)

I would probably leave her a nicely worded letter reminding her of your discussion on such and such date, explain how it is affecting you, and ask her to keep you updated on what she is doing to fix the problem. Keep a copy of the letter for your files. If she continues to do nothing or turns hostile then contact your HOA and enclose a copy of all written communications between you. Good luck.

Go to the homeowner's association, of course! File a complaint with them about the furnace in her apartment upstairs.

Talk to her one more time explain the situation and tell her it has been over two months, and you would really like this problem taken care of immediately. Ask her if she needs the number to the HOA.

If you do not get results within a few days, then go ahead and call the HOA yourself.

Go and speak to her again, but explain to her that if it is not checked you will go to the homeowners association. Make sure you are kind and tell her how much it bothers you. If it is not done go directly to the homeowners association, that is why you pay dues to them!

first off go back to her. she might have a good explanation like she cant afford it right now. in which case it would be kind of you to let it go for a little while longer.

If she is still unresponsive to your requests check with the strata council and see what they say. or read your by-laws there should be something about noise in there. in which case you can probably make a formal complaint. sounds like it will be a long drawn out process unless she fixes it willingly so if you are renting you might just want to consider moving.

good luck!

Whatever you tell her, put it in writing so if you have to go to the homeowners association, you have some documentation.
