I remember being told once, that caffine can hinder weight loss. Is there any truth to this?

No, from everything I have read, just the opposite is true. But I have included a good link on Caffeine and the athlete. Which has some good information on Caffeine.

Yes, because your adrenal glands are responsible for the fight or flight mechanism by sending adrenalin through your blood stream. Caffeine stimulates your adrenal glands which also suppresses your appetite.

If you continue excess caffeine, you are stressing your adrenal glands and it could cause them to shut down. Once you do this, your hormonal system will shut down. This is also called your endocrine system.

Once it shuts down, your body hordes weight to survive. This is why people who are under stress and don't eat right go through the same thing without excess caffeine.

No, not really. It can make you gt dehydrated and thus making your kidneys not work properly, causing your liver to not do its job efficintly, and causing a slower fat breakdown, but you'd have to practically live on caffeine and not drink any water at all, so don't worry do much about it :-)
