First question first, do i think most parents treat their children bad? Well, it mostly depends whose viewpoint you are looking at it from. Most parents do what they think is best for the child or how they were brought up as kids. The children think they are being treated wrongly just because, well, you know how you were as kids.
How you can not spoil a child is to give them everything they NEED, not eveything they WANT. There is a big difference between those things. The things they need include, fodd, shelter, clothing, and medical attention if they get sick. TO reward them for things done right isn't spoiling them, but to give them anything they point to at the store, that would be considered spoiling them. The best word to remember to avoid spoiling them is NO.
Hope that helps.

One way to not spoil the child is to actually pay attention to them and get involved in their lives.

I have an 8 year old and treat her like a "little adult".
