make sure you get him a birthday present - this is a good time to show everyone that you are not as spoiled as they think you are. maybe, when they see you can do something for someone else, they will help you with what you need in money for your field trip.

Sounds like you're a little self-absorbed. You don't have to blow everything you've saved on your brother, but you should get him something that shows that you really care. You don't necessarily need to spend so much that you jeopardize your trip, but if it's going to be that close, there's no question--your brother is much more important than a field trip. The fact that you're asking the question suggests that you know what the right answer is--I think you're just hoping for someone to bail you out by telling you it's okay to be selfish.

why ask , you already know what your gonna do . and it's gonna be a selfish act as usual what you need to do is stop being a brat and start acting responsible and your parents are just as wrong . so your Field trip means more to you then your brothers 13th (which by the way is a big deal b-day to both sexes)birthday . of course it does . your gonna go on your trip and to hell with your brother that's how it's always been so why change know . your the selfish lil bee and will always be one . so what's with asking the question when it's clear your gonna go on the trip. and no you don't feel guilty because if you did he would be enjoying his b-day and you would not be going on your Field trip . yes we know you dont know what to do . (but we all know what your gonna do) prove me wrong and take a stand and not be so mean and selfish and stop always thinking of yourself

I sooooooo think you should, like, ya know?

You need to make $550 by Feb 1? So he can go too?

I think there is probably no legal way for someone your age (13 or 14 max, I guess) to make that much money while in school in only 3 weeks.

Talk to your parents about this.

These are two separate events.

First, do something special for your brother -- make him his favorite meal. Get your family to help. It does have to be expensive to be special.

Second, It will be hard to raise the money for your field trip. You probably can't do it through a job. You might consider having a bake sale with your friends to raise the money. Or get people to pledge money for your successful completion of the trip. You might give a talk afterwords, as part of their pledge.

Work for the money instead of just letting everyone hand it to you. You'll feel good about it!
