Believe it or not ... liberated.
Since they have a democratic government established and the people have the right to vote, the Iraqi government can actually put a motion on the ballot to have Americans reduce or remove their military forces. If the Iraqi people vote in favor of American forces returning home, then we would begin returning troops home as the request of the Iraqi nation. This would still be somewhat of a victory in the fact that the power of the nation was given to the people and not a megalomaniacal dictator.
Also, the insurgents appear to be foreign-based and funded from outside sources (not only nations, but individual and group interests that are wholly anti-American). The Iraqi people have expressed gratitude and appreciation for the American forces there, although that is rarely ever shown in the liberally-slanted media.

The poor Iraqi people don't know what or who they are I should think....to get rid of a dictator and be TOLD by a war monger you WILL have a democracy doesn't sound very democratic in the first place. Having had no freedom for years they are bound to feel very confused and afraid....they are occupied at the moment but liberation will not spell peace for them yet, not for a long while, God Bless them, I wish them peace

Iraq is occupied by people trying to free the Iraqi population from tyranny. Post Saddam, the different factions are vying for power and it is they who are the perpetrators of the violence. Hopefully the situation will be resolved with the freely elected government able to restore Iraqs' wealth and fortune. We must finish the job in order to let other dictators know that they can't invade other countries and kill hundreds of thousands of their own people.

Victimized by the Iranian Theocracy undermining all efforts to allow them to establish anything good and independent for themselves! The more Chaos the Iranian backed Shia arses like al-Sadr can cause, the more likely the people will allow the theocracy to control them to settle for a relative peace!
Unfortunately, it will be short lived, because Iran is just going to get more ambitious until the all out war breaks out-and then, the Iraqi's will find themselves on the front lines in Iran's quest for power!

Liberated, how can anyone say occupied?
They freely ratified their own Constitution. They freely elected their own government.
There are 25 MILLION Iraqis. If they did not want the 150,000 American troops there, they could toss us out in about 2 seconds.
My God, the ignorance in our world has reached astounding levels. So much for the "information age", more like the "F_ing retard age".

I don't consider the "Iraqis" a people at all, and neither do they. They define themselves as "Shiites", "Sunnis", and "Kurds", to name the major divisions, and that's where most of the problems lie. Until they DO start thinking of themselves as Iraqis and put aside their ethnic and religious differences, they will be embroiled in civil war. The US and its allies started out as liberators, then became occupiers, and now are just trying to run interference to stave off the country's inevitable collapse.

Many Iraqis think that their country is occupied. We have US troops stationed here in UK. Are we occupied?

In one way liberated because they are freed from saddam and can now get a chance of democracy. But of course with so much terrorism their chances of freedom are being ruined.
So I would say occupied, not neccessarly because of being occupied by British and US troops but because of the occupation of terrorist groups which is ruining chances of freedom.
