How times change! Was all the rage in the 70s, with Beano characters being whacked on a weekly basis. My husband got it at school and my mum kept a flip flop just for smacking (yes, social services have been informed!). Has slippering died a death or just gone underground like dog fighting?

Never heard of using a slipper. It was the belt for me.

I think most people got the slipper, belt, palm of hand when growing up,which eventually had to be seen as abuse as there were parents that did exactly that. We all know the worst form of punishment was being grounded,i can't believe i actually asked to be slippered rather than stay in,sad to say i stayed in.

slippering is not the only method to have died...growing up my mom broke a yard stick on my behind and also took a length of plastic race track from my hot wheels set and gave my brother and I a few whacks! It does not seem like you can even look at children cross eyed in todays society...no wonder the world is dying!

I got whatever was in reach. Yes, slippering, or corporal punishment, is a dying art. Now its all about time-out and excuses like ADD. People now prefer to treat their kids with drugs that actually make them worse off in the future.

Spare the rod and spoil the child. A society without limits is one which is too animalistic for survival in a world with Nukes.

I wasn't ever hit with a slipper. I was spanked occasionally, but always with a flat hand.

We got spanked on the bottom (with the hand) when we deserved it, and there's nothing wrong with that. As a matter of fact, we are required by God to correct our children accordingly.

I can only remember being spanked twice - with the hand, no objects. To this day, I still don't know what I did to deserve it!!
