I have began a diet, and I need to know the lowest safe calorie count for me. I am 51 years old, do thirty minutes aerobics a day and walk two miles three times a week. What is the safest amount I can consume and not feel faint or lightheaded?

Male 2200 calories is the most you want to take in. You can reduce it to 500. I would avoid eating less than that. Start with that many calories and slowly reduce down by 200 calories every week till you are about at 1800 or 1750.
If you are a female the lowest you can be on is a 1600 calorie diet.
