i am currently running something through the hdmi input on my television, what would be the cheapest or easiest way to record what my tv is displaying on HDMI?

i don't mean to say i need the picture to remain hd but i just want to be able to record what the device is displaying through hdmi output

The main reason consumer electronics companies use HDMI is because it provides great video quality and content management support. With high probability all the content on the HDMI port is encrypted.

If you want tor record what the TV is playing, get a PVR, or a set-top box with a hard-drive.
