Not necessarily. I've actually loved a person I totally hated. Sounds weird, but it's possible. I used to refer to her as my "girl enemy." We were together and although once (every three weeks) we'd have this amazing warmth together, the other times it was like a forest fire. We would fight over the silliest things. I mean, how I scrubbed soap suds off a pan could be a fight that would trigger all of the previous fights.

It was war! From the soap suds, she'd bring up the dusty lamp I didn't dust off; I'd retaliate by telling her that her mother's verbal abuse of her as a child has made her impossible to communicate with; she'd then scream and tell me to shut up and to **&*&* off with my attitude. I'd counter by saying, "if anyone has an attitude, you do because YOU STARTED THIS!"

She'd get ready to throw something at me. Then, we'd try to talk about breaking up and we'd both pretty much cry.

Then, 2 hours later, we'd hold each other and there would be peace for about 6 hours...then the next morning, it would be a new war. It was a tough life being that relationship, but despite this horrible routine, we stuck it out for 8 years or so because over all these stupid "wars", our bond got stronger. Granted, the sex was null and void, but there was some strong committment that we somehow kept. Yeah, a sort of love despite the fact we resented each other.

Even now, although I look back on those fights, I must say that I do love her. And believe me, she said some evil things at me.

I love myself too for not breaking her nose. It proves I'm a man and have the strength to not beat the crap out of someone who had stepped all over me...haha, see, I'm fighting her spirit in my mind this very moment....

My personal opinion is - Friendship blooms by natural impulsion that may or may not necesssarily end up in love. But love is nothing but two souls dissolved into each other and becoming one. Friendship is the platform for the love journey. Some reserved the platform specifically for love journey. And they call themselves good friend only to cheat the gullible person. I wish they knew " What is love and friendship"

Love can easily grow from friendship and is the best way to go since you 2 care about each other as friends first and as lovers after.

That is so true! Reno and I were best friends throughout my marriage for 12 yrs and now I'm separated and dating him as of last May. Our love is so deep. It's no comparison to the man I married.
