They are mentioned in Num 23:22, Num 24:8 and Job 39:9-10

Going with the literal interpretations of the bible that you swear by, can any of you deny them?

Sorry, should be creationists, I know there are more than 1 of you.

Oh, and Kent Hovind believes in them if that convinces you:

@ Williamzo
I am reading from the KJV, which many creationists and other fundamentalists claim to be the only valid translation.

Sorry, my bad. Apparently "Dr" Hovind thinks that unicorns were actually dinosaurs =D (This is the guy who believes that dinosaurs and humans coexisted). It worries me how many people think this guy is intelligent/sane.

I can see you're just as frustrated as I am. I do love the verses. It's so annoying to try to talk about evolution with them and have them say "There's NO evidence for evolution!" to which I want to pull out my hair and go "Have you looked??" It's like reading and studying went out of vogue and if something isn't instantly obvious to you, then it must not be F.A.C.T.

Sigh. (The NIVs got out of it by translating it as "wild ox".)

"the strength of an unicorn." (Numbers 23:22 KJV)

"Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib? Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee? Wilt thou trust him, because his strength is great? or wilt thou leave thy labour to him?" (Job 39:9-11 KJV)

Well it is more likely than the belief that humans evolved from microbes.
Atheism is the most irrational religion of them all. . . . . . .

The atheists credo.

We believe in one Matter,
The almighty, the omnipotent
Maker of the whole universe
Of all that is seen and unseen
We believe in one Cosmic Egg
The only Son of Matter
Eternally begotten of Matter
Matter from Matter, Energy from Energy,
True Matter from True Matter
Begotten not made,
Of one being with Matter
Through the Egg all things were made
For us men and for our evolution
It formed itself in the heavens
By the power of the Energy it became incarnate into virgin space, and was made Egg
For our sake, it exploded in a singularity,
expanded, and expanded and became everything
In accordance with the ‘Big Bang’ story
It spread across the heavens and evolved into galaxies
It will continue in glory
Until the ultimate heat death

We believe in the Energy, the giver of life, which proceeds from the Matter and the Egg
With the Matter and the Egg it is worshipped and glorified
It has been revealed by the atheists
We believe in one, secular humanist and Darwinian faith
We acknowledge one, atheistic viewpoint for the education of all.
We look for the oblivion of the dead
And the destruction of the world to come.
Amen

weren't there a good number of animal that existed before that now not exist? I doubt that legends about unicorns sprang up from nowhere. Yeah, i'm particular we are not speaking about the magical rainbow animals that beautify little women' rooms, yet why not a one-horned, quick, sturdy creature? Why is this demanding to draw close, Creationist or not?

I have to revise my answer... It is possible that there were one-horned creatures...

http://www.answersingenesis.org/creation/v14/i2/unicorn.asp

Whether or not they are the unicorns of legend or some similiar animal with one horn no one knows. I do think there are fossils of creatures have only one horn.

Literal interpretations? Last time I checked those verses said nothing about unicorns. However, there are descriptions of dragons...

Read Job chapter 41 about it. Use an accurate translations (i.e. New American Standard Bible)

Job 41:19-21
19 "Out of his mouth go burning torches; Sparks of fire leap forth. 20 "Out of his nostrils smoke goes forth As {from} a boiling pot and {burning} rushes. 21 "His breath kindles coals, And a flame goes forth from his mouth.

Anyways, back to the unicorn.

Numbers 23:22
"God brings them out of Egypt, He is for them like the horns of the wild ox."

Job
39:9
"Will the wild ox consent to serve you, Or will he spend the night at your manger ?
39:10
"Can you bind the wild ox in a furrow with ropes, Or will he harrow the valleys after you?

If I'm wrong, then that's pretty cool. Though, I haven't seen any fossils to support the existence of unicorns.

Update...

Oh, the King James... No wonder. That has so many translation errors. It was fine for the time but please go out and buy a better translation.

Nope. There are lots of things which I can't prove or disprove the existence of. What's your point?

EDIT: To Zero Cool: Gasp, we say the same thing about atheism. If one hasn't searched every inch of the universe to conclusively prove that there is no God, how can one logically conclude that there is no God? It's an irrational conclusion. At least believers have some evidence on which they base their beliefs...

Additional Edit: The "unicorn" is a wild ox in Hebrew.

Well, I read thoses passages and it doesnt sound like they are speaking of anything like a unicorn. Many animal types have come and gone. It is possible they lived once. I do not believe they were magical or anything like that however.

I absolutely believe that they existed at one time. Didn't we all evolve from something? Isn't it possible that the horse in it's earlier stages of evolution had a horn on it's head. Think about what other creatures where walking the earth, It seems like everything had a defensive horn. I don't think it inconceivable at all.
