well dogs normally will root under blankets, and tend to wander off looking for a spot to have her puppies. she'll probably even lick herself a lot due to her water breaking. i'm sure she would like it if you sat with her at least till she has her first puppy, it'll be smooth sailing after she has that first one...but check on her from time to time to make sure everything is ok. pet her, and talk in a soft gentle voice, just to let her know you are there with her. make sure she has some clean towels as well, because it'll get pretty messy...

temp will drop from 101 to about 98-95 she will start to pace back and forth and might yelp or cry. she will also start to nest, wherever you put here den to give birth she might start to rip up paper or blanket. she will start to pant to control pain. if any of these things start and it goes on for more than 36 hours call the vet she might need help. birth can last from 1 hour to 36 hours. good luck and bless those puppies!

Many times the dog will stop eating and drinking. They even tend to "hide" in one spot. Under a bed, the couch, etc. Not wanting to come out or be social. Just keep your eye on her, she'll know when it's time. Good luck and Congrats!!

Her water will break and she will begin panting very heavily. If her belly is big enough you will also she her starting to have contractions. My momma dog started contracting about 20 minutes before her first pup was born. Good luck and congratulations!

Her temperature will rise and fall but once it goes under 99 degrees - be prepared. Try not to be too anxious because she will feel your tension and share it. Also, keep watching her - is she digging? panting? acting like she has to urinate even if she doesn't go?

unfortunatly it's hard to predict without a professional's opinion. similarily if a human is giving birth it's no way to really tell just by looking without a dr is present. your best bet is to give your dog frequent walks to help her go into labor sooner. also like humans, her water will break, so keep an eye out for it.

When it's time, she'll start whining or barking. You will need to check on her regularly since she was due already. But she'll make panting or whining noises when it's time.
