When you say '...Word and Excel are no longer available...', do you mean that the icons are missing from your desktop/all programs list or are you sure that the programs are no longer on the PC?
Have you tried holding the 'windows key' and pressing 'r' (i.e. 'run') and typing in 'msword' and pressing return?
Excuse me if I am perhaps treaching you to suck-eggs but if it is a case of the Icons missing then you can just copy them from c:/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office/... to c:/Documents and settings/All Users/Start Menu/Programs

Your workplace courses will register (once you've a topic, call Microsoft), yet you'll want a Vista installation disk to placed vista lower back on the computing gadget. (and also you may lose all of your courses and records.) you may want to also merely receive Open workplace and end nerve-racking about Microsoft.

open Program Files, Microsoft Office, Office 10 (or 11), then look for the files winword.exe and excel.exe. They should still be there if it did once work. You can then create shortcuts from those files
