Check for its facilities, room features, reputation and where it is located before booking the hotel. Generally, you shouldn't stay much in the hotel!!

Because of the category in which you put this Q., I am assuming you mean T'land.
Want a quiet, idyllic beach front property, 4* but inexpensive? Go to a place called Koh Samui. Ask your travel agent or ask at the T'land airport tourist info. I will highly recommend this place.
It is so quiet there, you can hear yourself think.
Even the gentle lap of the ocean in the morning is so soothing. You wake up to the bright orange sun rise every a.m. - you will love this place.

it is not advisable to stay long time in any hotel. In Thailand there is much to do. Any guide can give you hundred of suggestions. Among the many possible I would choose a massage that belongs to the ancient thai tradition: you will find many little shops in Sukhumvit area. I would suggest not to stay in the main road but to walk a little deeply in the soi (small streets). My favourites are soi 23 and soi 33. E.G. you can check for Nirvana Massage.

Stay at a 5 star, bring plenty of tissues, and be more specific as to where you are staying and other vacation details.
